Hurry!!! Limited deals!!

I love photographing in urban settings…period. If I could shoot every session in the city then I would. I feel like that’s what brings out most of my creativity and love to do personal projects in urban settings. This shoot took place on a bit of a cloudy day in the cool fall. The light was amazing and the spot was awesome.

It can be a challenge to photograph non-traditional families. Here we have a father and his son and daughter. His daughter is quite young and the goal is to show love without making it seem like he has an uber young wife…lol. Notice the way these photos were taken and see if you can figure out how to do it. I’ll tell you my secrets if you want to know.

These photos were for their Christmas card. Now that it’s May I think I’ve waited long enough for their family to see them…lol. Well really, I’m just now getting to blogging because I’ve been so busy. Thank God for that!! Take a look at their photos and tell me what you think.

I wake up and have 2 feet to walk with.

I get up and have 2 hands to make breakfast with.

I have 2 eyes to see and work with.

I have life.

The events of this past week have horrified the nation and this city. Who could have ever imaged something like this happening in “safe” Boston? I question why these things are happening anywhere in this world. But…I am comforted. I am comforted by knowing that God has a major plan. I am comforted in knowing that lives are not lost in vain. There is a greater plan in place here. Events like this help me see how blessed I am in this world. I spend too much time worrying about my weight instead of about my health; about my skin instead of my family; about my wallet instead of the world outside. I am so blessed to have a place to live, a loving husband, a wonderful career, and a loving family. I have my arms, my legs, my sight. I have the ability to breathe on my own and the ability to take care of myself. I have been blessed to know Boston before this tragic event and to see how Boston will move forward.

Today authorities are taking down the memorial site for the Boston Marathon bombing victims. I didn’t know that would happen today. I am thankful that me and my husband stopped by today…before it was dismantled. I wanted to pay my respects. I wanted to see the site although I’ve visited the area numerous times for photo shoots. I wanted to feel the atmosphere. I had no clue what it would be like but I was overcome with emotion. I felt like crying for all those whose lives have been shattered. I held it in but my heart wept. There was a quietness that all of those shared in paying respects. This make-shift memorial represents so much. I couldn’t believe that I was able to go down there and see it. There were so many people. I didn’t think I’d get a glimpse…but I did. Thank God I did.

Wow!!  Has it really been this long since I’ve posted? For most of my life I’ve had body image issues.  I was overweight as a young child and by the grace of God I was slim for the 4 years of high school.  I don’t know how it happened but it did.  As I got older, my body changed and I gained weight again.  It took me sooooo many years to be comfortable with myself.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still working on getting in shape.  I just realize I can love myself at every step of the journey.  I’ve also been in a horrible relationship that tore me to pieces.  My confidence and self worth was shot down.  Thankfully, I got out of that horrible relationship and met a man that loved me no matter what.  Through everything and all the body image issues I had he still loved me.  He helped me love myself and I want to make sure that every woman out there knows that she can love herself.  Every body is a beautiful body so my goal is to help each and every woman around me see that.

I am now focusing on photographing women.  I wanted to just shoot boudoir but something told me I needed to do more.  I don’t know what it was but it was there.  During my aunt’s passing, I did a lot of thinking and really started paying attention to the signs I was receiving.  So while I will be shooting women in their undies, I’ll also be focusing on photographing them in beautiful outfits.  I want to create images that women can feel wonderful about.

And with this new direction….I’m renting studio space!!  Yes!!  You saw that right.  I am renting studio space and will hold most of my shoots there.  I’ll still be natural light as I love the feel and the look of it.  So now you’ll come to the studio and have your hair and makeup done before your shoot.    I’ll explain all of it to you when you book your next session.  Don’t worry, I’ll still shoot families.  There’s no way I’m turning my back on helping create family memories.  I’m also participating in a bridal show on September 30th.  It’s the Great Bridal Expo and the first trade show I’ve ever done so wish me luck.
